If you are currently struggling here is an inspiring story from one of our younger members, Jonah.

Instead of sitting on his backside during the covid crisis he used the opportunity to create new opportunities.

He and I worked together on a “one to one” basis and he proved himself to be a willing and dedicated student. However, like all of us it wasn’t plane sailing and he hit many hurdles along the way.

So how did he get on and where is he now?

My name is Jonah and I’m 23 years old.

I was born and raised in the United States and I wanted to take some time to share my forex journey.

I hope the ups and downs of my journey can help motivate you and help you along your own journeys.

My forex journey started back when I was a sophomore in college. At the time, I was studying to be a civil engineer and a friend of mine told me about forex trading. After looking into it, I thought it was really interesting and jumped right into it.

Like most newbies, I ended in the forex cycle of doom, jumping from one thing to another in search of the next shiny thing. I eventually ended up with Forex Mentor Pro but I never really gave trading my full attention. My main focus was my college education and trading took a backseat to that.

I’m a first-generation American and both my parents worked in labor-intensive jobs when they first came to the U.S. Usually, immigrant families with my background would tell their kids that the only way to get ahead was to work as hard as they did. But that wasn’t the case with me. My father always told me to work in something where I can make more money without having to work as hard as he did and I believed that engineering would get me to where I wanted to be.

It wasn’t until I started interning at a construction company my junior and senior years that I realized that engineering wouldn’t help me reach my goals. Although the people I worked with made good money, I also saw just how unhappy a lot of them were because of how much of their time and energy went towards their work. It was like I was getting a sneak peek at what my future would be like in a couple of years.

That’s when I realized that it’s not just about the amount of money you make but also your quality of life.

That’s when I started to take forex trading seriously and focused on improving. I made a lot of progress but felt like I still had a ways to go. Soon afterward, the covid lockdowns happened and almost everything was shut down. But during this time, the U.S government was practically giving money away to everyone and this opened up an opportunity for me.

School became remote, the construction projects I was on were shut down until further notice, so I thought this was the best time to invest in myself.

So, I became a private student with Marc and he helped me, not just with trading, but also with my mentality. In my case, Marc said I was already very good at analysis but I struggled with being confident in my trades. I’d often analyze a pair and not take it just for it to play out the way I wanted it to. This is when I started to learn more about psychology and how your underlying beliefs affect your trading.

However, even after everything, I still wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be. I ended up failing an evaluation trying to get funded and I was devastated about it. It was just one of those times where nothing seemed to go my way and I got depressed about it.

I felt like I was close to my goal but at the same time, really far away. I thought about coming to Marc to get some advice but I felt embarrassed about the whole situation and didn’t even know if I wanted to continue trading.

So, I instead stopped trading altogether and took some time away from it. Taking some time off helped to clear my head and helped to re-motivate me to try again. Although I wasn’t where I wanted to be, I knew that what I wanted to do was doable. But I realized that I needed to take a different approach. So, I decided to get a trading back testing software. I spent a lot of time understanding how I trade and experimenting with different approaches and trade management styles until I found something that worked for me.

Once I was confident, I got back into the flow of things and found myself taking another evaluation to get funded. Now, I’m officially managing a 6-figure account.

It’s kind of crazy to think as I was close to giving up. Looking back, I should’ve just reached out to Marc for help but being on my own made me appreciate the foundation I got from FMP and also made me more confident in myself. I think as long as you have that desire to succeed and can see your failures as opportunities to improve yourself rather than reasons to give up, then you’ll see the results you want sooner or later.
